  • Vitamin C
  • Olive Leaf Extract
  • Magnesium Gluconate
  • L-Theanine
  • Zinc Glycinate

Each supplement supports your immune system in its own way. Let’s take a deeper look at the benefits of each ingredient in the Immunity blend supplement.

Echinacea Purpurea

Echinacea is a plant that is commonly used for the treatment and prevention of colds. It is a flowering plant from the sunflower family and is native to parts of North America. This species has been traditionally employed for the treatment of toothache, bowel pain, snake bite, skin disorders, seizure, chronic arthritis, and cancer.[1]

A review of 16 trials on the effectiveness of Echinacea to treat colds with a total of 3396 participants found that overall Echinacea preparations were better than placebo. [2]

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a well known immunity booster and can be beneficial to supplement with to prevent getting sick. Adding extra Vitamin C in your diet can reduce inflammation due to its antioxidant activity in the body [3]. A lack of Vitamin C in the body can also increase your chances of getting sick.

“Vitamin C deficiency results in impaired immunity and higher susceptibility to infections. In turn, infections significantly impact on vitamin C levels due to enhanced inflammation and metabolic requirements.” [4]

Including Vitamin C in your diet has shown to reduce the severity of a cold and decrease the length of a cold if you’ve already got one. [5]

Olive Leaf Extract

Olive Leaf extract is the leaf from an olive plant that has been thought to boost immunity and fight off colds and other illnesses for many years. It was traditionally used in chinese medicine for its immune system benefits and general wellbeing. Olive Leaf extract also contains anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It’s known for its capacity to combat free radicals that tend to weaken our immune system. Olive Leaf extract has been shown to boost immunity, lower blood pressure, may help with lowering cholesterol and can help with type 2 diabetes.

Magnesium Gluconate

Magnesium is an important mineral in the body, it helps with muscle and nerve function, regulating blood sugar and it helps to support the immune system. Magnesium is one of the seven macrominerals we need to consume each day as it is vital for many bodily functions. Magnesium is also known as an anti-stress mineral, it can help you sleep, improves your digestion, balances your blood sugar and gives you more energy. The benefits of magnesium are a great addition to our immunity blend.

L-Theanine is an amino acid found in particular plant and fungal species. It is one of the main active ingredients in green tea and some tea leaves. It’s known for its ability to promote relaxation without sedation. Studies have found that after taking L-Theanine, relaxation starts within 30 minutes [6], studies have also found it can improve sleep quality [6]. The reason we have added L-Theanine into the immunity blend is because it helps with your stress levels so you don’t get burnt out and compromise your immune system. L-Theanine may also affect the neurotransmitters in the brain – serotonin and dopamine, which influence mood, sleep, emotion and cortisol which help the body deal with stress.

Zinc Glycinate

Zinc is another mineral that is essential for our bodies to function, it’s essential for the immune system, wound healing, blood clotting and assists with growth and development in pregnancy, adolescence and childhood. If you have a deficiency in zinc you could have a weakened immune system because zinc is necessary for immune cell function and cell signalling.

A review of 7 studies found that supplementing with zinc each day could reduce the length of a common cold by 33% [7]. Zinc has also been shown to significantly reduce the risk of infections and promote immune response in older adults [8].

Our CYOS Immunity blend ensures that your body is being nourished with immune supporting vitamins and minerals to best protect you from the cold and flu season and all year round. It’s also great with assisting your sleep and stress levels, reduces the risk of infections, helps with inflammation and supports mood.
